My name is Alycia Basquiat and I’m from Queens, NY. I am an undergraduate sophomore at Cornell’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, where I’m a pre-vet animal science major. My involvement in research began in high school surrounding infections and reproduction. I have continued research now as a Rawlings Cornell Research Scholar.
Outside of academics, I am on the board of Pre-Vet Society and the Black Women’s Support Network on campus. I also like to dance and paint/draw in my free time.
I am working on understanding the replication and DNA packaging of the genome of canine parvovirus. Specifically, how recoded viral genomes replicate and are packaged into the viral capsid.
